Having completed my 2 years National Service in 1953 I motorcycled down to Cromer from my home in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. There I was reunited with my girl friend Brenda, tongue in cheek I ask her to marry me. She made me the happiest man in the world by accepting my proposal. I told her that should she have any doubts I would ask her again at Kings Lynn, some 50 miles into our journey & would take her back to Cromer. At Kings Lynn with reassurance from Brenda we continued our journey to the Road to the Isles. This was the beginning of a love story second to none.
